Our organic, raw cacao powder comes from the seeds of the native South American evergreen, which are found in the large oval shaped pods of the tree.

Cacao is a nutrient dense and less refined version of cocoa (what is used in chocolate), and hasn't been heated and treated at the same temperatures, allowing the cacao to keep its nutrient dense qualities.

Cacao is packed full of antioxidants and contains magnesium, calcium, sulfur, zinc, iron, copper, potassium, manganese and vitamins: B1, B2, B3, B5, B9, C and E.

Is Cacao Powder the same as Cocoa Powder?

There is a big difference between cacao powder and cocoa powder, not only in how they are processed and produced but also in the additional nutritional value and health benefits associated with both. As cacao powder is processed in a raw state at low temperature, it ensures that the majority of the superfood's nutrients are retained. Cocoa powder, on the other hand, is heat-treated and loses a lot of its nutritional value in the process and is therefore not seen as a superfood.

What are the benefits of Cacao Powder?

Cacao Powder is produced through a low-temperature drying process which ensures the cacao powder keeps a range of health-benefiting properties, including having a wide spectrum of minerals including magnesium, iron, potassium, polyphenols and zinc, as well as possessing a high antioxidant ORAC value of 130,590 µmol TE/100g. An ORAC value is a measure of a food's antioxidant capacity.

What is better Cacao Powder or Cocoa Powder?

It just feels like I'm looking after me

Living in a country area with no health food shops, I used to buy Cacao in the supermarket. Suddenly they ran out so I searched online and found Tropeaka. Wow, the difference from what I was buying, which was marked as organic, is amazing! I guess the supermarket brand is not processed as carefully. The other brand I needed to add some sort of sweetener to counteract the extreme bitterness, the Tropeaka brand I love just as it is. I've just re-ordered from Tropeaka, even tho I see my supermarket has restocked, and their brand is a lot cheaper. I just feel like I'm giving my body a gift with Tropeaka.
